Publish and manage your scenarios

A draft is your working canvas in Scenario Studio. Publish compiles it into a scenario that your organization’s members find in their catalog. Nothing is published until you say so, and the draft stays open for later versions.

Before you start, you need access to Scenario Studio (see Your first scenario).

The product type decides how the scenario is presented and launched. You pick it when creating the draft (Product type) and can change it later in Settings.

Type What it is for Tasks
Tutorial — guided, free hints A guided, step-by-step lab. At least one
Challenge — graded, hints cost points A real, graded task. At least one
Playground — no tasks An open environment with no instructions and no grading. None
Assessment — exam material Exam material, run only inside a proctored Assessment. At least one
  • Changing the type re-checks what your organization may author.
  • The Assessment type is only available to organizations on an enterprise contract. An Assessment scenario is not launched from the catalog: it is added to an assessment template (see Assessment templates).
  • A scenario that is not a Playground cannot be tested or published without at least one task: the Add a task banner shows above the canvas while one is missing.

Click Settings in the toolbar. This panel holds everything about the scenario that is not a node on the canvas.

Field Purpose
Display name The scenario’s title in the catalog.
Description The scenario’s introduction text.
Tags The skills the scenario covers. The catalog can filter by tag.
Product type See above.
Difficulty Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.
Estimated duration A duration in seconds, e.g. 2700s. It also feeds the price of a cohort place.
Card image Optional. Empty derives one from the environment type.
Cleanup TTL (seconds) How long a session lives before it is torn down.
Passing score The score needed to pass.

The points total is shown under the passing score: it is recomputed from the tasks on every publish.

  1. In the toolbar, click Check. Fix every error reported: the affected node’s Issues tab says what to do. Warnings (a task worth no points, a task wired to no step…) do not block publishing.

  2. Test every task at least once in a preview (see Setup steps and checks).

  3. Click Publish.

  4. On the first publish, enter a Scenario name: lowercase and dash-separated, for example scale-a-deployment.

  5. Click Publish. “Published as …” confirms it.

The published scenario appears in your organization’s catalog with the Studio badge. The catalog’s All sources filter lets you show only your organization’s scenarios, or only Klastro’s Official ones. Scenarios published from the Studio are visible only inside your organization.

A published scenario is edited from the draft that published it.

  1. Open Studio, then Scenario Studio. The Published as column of the Drafts list shows which scenario each draft published.

  2. Click the draft’s name to reopen its canvas.

  3. Make your changes, then test them in a preview.

  4. Click Publish. The dialog is titled Republish scenario and the name can no longer be changed. Click Republish.

You can start from one of your organization’s scenarios or from an official Klastro scenario: it is decompiled into a laid-out canvas that you are free to change.

  • From the Studio: New draft, then search for the scenario in Start from. The list separates Your organization’s Studio and Official Klastro.
  • From the catalog: on a scenario’s page, click Clone to Draft. The new-draft dialog opens, pre-filled with that scenario.

The new draft is not linked to any published scenario: on its first publish it asks for a new name and creates a new scenario. The original scenario is left unchanged.

In the Drafts list, click the row’s bin icon. A running preview is stopped on the way.

The draft saves automatically. If someone else (or you, in another tab) edits it at the same time, the banner “This draft changed elsewhere — your edits are no longer being saved.” appears: click Reload to pick up the current version before carrying on.
