Create and edit assessment templates
An assessment template is the reusable definition you send to candidates: a sequence of graded scenarios, a single timer that covers all of them, and a passing score. Every invitation points to a template; every candidate who starts produces a separate assessment run.
Prerequisite: be a Recruiter or an admin in an organization on a business contract.
Create a template
Section titled “Create a template”-
Open Assess, then Templates, and click New template.
If your organization has Scenario Studio and you can author in it, a menu offers two choices:
- Compose from the catalog opens the template editor described below;
- Write a challenge in Studio: author a custom scenario first. Once published, it appears in the template catalog.
Otherwise the button opens the editor directly.
-
Fill in Assessment details:
Field Rule Name Required, 120 characters at most. Description Optional, 500 characters at most. Tell the candidate what to expect. Total duration (min) Required, from 1 to 480 minutes (8 hours). Passing score (%) Required, from 0 to 100. Defaults to 70. -
In the Scenario catalog on the right, find the scenarios to include. You can narrow it by:
- search (name, description or tag) with Search scenarios…;
- provenance: Official (Klastro scenarios) or Studio (written in your organization);
- difficulty: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced;
- tag, by clicking one.
Only graded challenges appear in this catalog.
-
Click Add on each scenario you want. The button turns into Added and the scenario joins the Scenario order list.
-
Set the order (see below), then click Create assessment.
The new template appears under All assessment templates with the Draft status.
Order the scenarios
Section titled “Order the scenarios”Under Scenario order, drag a row by its handle (Drag to reorder) to move it. This is the order in which the candidate sees the scenarios.
To take a scenario out, click Remove scenario on its row.
Set the duration
Section titled “Set the duration”Until you change it, Total duration (min) follows the scenarios: the sum of their estimated durations plus 25% headroom, rounded up to the next 5 minutes. The text under the field says so (“Follows the scenarios: … estimated, plus 25% headroom”).
If you type another value, the Use the suggested duration link brings back the automatic figure.
The Time allocation bar shows each scenario’s share of the total time. If it turns red, the scenario durations exceed the total assessment time.
Check with the preview
Section titled “Check with the preview”Click Preview to see the assessment as the candidate will: name, description, total duration, and the scenario list with each scenario’s task count. Scoring details and passing thresholds are hidden in this view, just as they are for the candidate.
Edit a template
Section titled “Edit a template”-
Open Assess, then Templates.
-
Click the template under All assessment templates.
-
Change the details, or add, remove or reorder scenarios.
-
Click Update assessment. The “Assessment updated” message confirms it was saved.
