Compose a track and point learners to certification paths
Klastro has two things with similar names:
- a track (Train menu) is a curriculum you compose: an ordered, reusable sequence of scenarios plus its materials. You then deliver it to a group as a cohort;
- a certification path (Learn menu) is a roadmap provided by Klastro, which each learner follows alone, at their own pace.
Compose a track
Section titled “Compose a track”Before you start, you need:
- in a subscription organization, an Instructor seat assigned to your account (see Seats);
- in a contract organization, the instructor or admin role (see Members and roles);
- published scenarios: Klastro’s catalog, or your own (see Publish and manage your scenarios).
Create the track
Section titled “Create the track”-
In the sidebar, open Train, then Tracks.
-
Click New track.
-
Enter a Name, for example “Kubernetes Fundamentals — 3 days”, and optionally a Description: who it is for and what they leave knowing.
-
Click Create draft. The track’s page opens in three steps: Scenarios, Materials and Details.
Everything you do from here saves automatically. The indicator at the top of the page goes through Saving… then Saved; “Add a name to save” means a name is missing.
Build the sequence
Section titled “Build the sequence”-
On the Scenarios step, click Add a scenario….
-
Search for a scenario. The list separates Your scenarios (Studio) and the Klastro catalog. A scenario marked Pro can only be launched on a plan that reaches Pro scenarios.
-
Add the labs in the order trainees should meet them. Use the arrows to move a scenario earlier or later, and the cross to remove it.
-
Click Continue to Materials.
Add materials
Section titled “Add materials”Materials go with the labs: slides, recordings, documentation. This step is optional.
-
On the Materials step, click Add material.
-
Choose the Kind: Document, Video or Link. It only changes what the trainee sees.
-
Under Material, choose External link and paste the URL, or Uploaded file and click Choose a file…. An uploaded file is 32 MB at most: link a video instead.
-
Enter a Title and, if needed, a Description, then click Add.
-
Click Continue to Details and check the name and description.
Read the price of a place
Section titled “Read the price of a place”The Price per place panel beside the track shows what one trainee costs once your plan’s included places are used up. Enter a Cohort length in minutes to simulate the price: a track has no length of its own, each cohort sets one. The price depends on the scenarios’ environments and their estimated duration. The details are in Create a cohort. In a contract organization no place is charged and this panel does not appear.
Publish the track
Section titled “Publish the track”Click Publish at the top of the page. The button stays inactive while the track has no name or no scenario. Only a published track is offered when composing a cohort.
Deliver as a cohort takes you straight to creating a cohort (see Create a cohort).
Archive a track
Section titled “Archive a track”In the Tracks list, click the row’s archive icon. An archived track is no longer offered when composing a cohort, but it is not deleted: the cohorts that came from it stay intact.
Point your learners to certification paths
Section titled “Point your learners to certification paths”Certification paths are roadmaps designed by Klastro, from the first concept to exam readiness (Kubernetes, security, Linux). They are the same for every organization: you cannot create or edit them.
What to know before recommending them:
- your learners find them under Learn, then Certification Paths, filterable by Topic and Level;
- each step points to a catalog scenario. A step whose scenario is not in your organization’s catalog is marked Unavailable;
- progress is declared by the learner (Mark complete). They are milestones, not credentials, and locked steps recommend an order rather than enforce it;
- progress is personal and follows the learner across organizations. You do not see it from your account.
For a programme taught in class, with your own order and live monitoring, compose a track and deliver it as a cohort instead. The learner’s side is described in Catalog, challenges and paths.
