Keyboard shortcuts
This page lists the keys you can use in the lab. Klastro adds only a few shortcuts of its own; most of what you use every day comes from the terminal and from your browser. Each table says which is which.
On macOS, Cmd is the ⌘ key and Option is ⌥.
Terminal
Section titled “Terminal”These come from the terminal itself and behave as in any Linux terminal.
| Action | Keys | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Copy the selected text | Cmd+C | Browser |
| Paste | Cmd+V | Browser |
| Interrupt the running command | Ctrl+C | Terminal |
| End input / log out of a shell | Ctrl+D | Terminal |
| Clear the screen | Ctrl+L | Terminal |
| Search your command history | Ctrl+R | Terminal |
| Complete a command or file name | Tab | Terminal |
| Action | Keys | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Copy the selected text | Ctrl+Insert, or right-click → Copy | Browser |
| Paste | Ctrl+Shift+V or Shift+Insert, or right-click → Paste | Browser |
| Interrupt the running command | Ctrl+C | Terminal |
| End input / log out of a shell | Ctrl+D | Terminal |
| Clear the screen | Ctrl+L | Terminal |
| Search your command history | Ctrl+R | Terminal |
| Complete a command or file name | Tab | Terminal |
Scrolling back in a shell
Section titled “Scrolling back in a shell”When your shell runs inside tmux (a green status line at the bottom), use its
scroll mode to read earlier output:
| Action | Keys | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Enter scroll mode | Ctrl+B, then [ | tmux |
| Scroll | Arrow keys, Page Up, Page Down | tmux |
| Leave scroll mode | q | tmux |
Instructions pane
Section titled “Instructions pane”These are Klastro’s own shortcuts.
| Action | Keys | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Next / previous task | ↓ or → / ↑ or ← | With focus in the task list |
| First / last task | Home / End | With focus in the task list |
| Copy an inline command | Enter or Space | With focus on the command |
| Move between controls | Tab / Shift+Tab | Anywhere |
The task list counts as a single Tab stop: tab into it, then use the arrow keys. Moving the selection opens that task straight away.
Workspace
Section titled “Workspace”| Action | Keys | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Widen / narrow the instructions pane | → / ← | With focus on the Resize panels grip |
| Close a dialog without confirming | Esc | In a confirmation dialog |
Editor and app views
Section titled “Editor and app views”The Code tab is VS Code, with VS Code’s usual shortcuts, and app views keep their own. When they are embedded in the lab, the browser may keep some combinations for itself (opening or closing tabs, for example). Use Open in new tab to give the editor or the application the whole browser tab.
What does not exist
Section titled “What does not exist”To save you looking for them: the lab has no shortcut of its own to switch terminal tabs, open a new shell, run a check, reveal a hint or submit. Use the mouse, or Tab to the button and press Enter.
