Manage your sessions

Every lab you launch creates a session: a real environment that runs, and draws credits, as long as it is neither paused nor ended. This guide shows you how to stay in control of your sessions.

In the Personal section of the sidebar, click My Sessions. The page lists every lab you have started, most recent first, each with:

  • the Scenario, its type, difficulty and number of tasks;
  • its Status: Starting, Provisioning, Ready, Paused or Ended;
  • the Score for challenges;
  • when it Started, as a relative time for a running session (“23 minutes ago”) and as a date once it has ended.

The All, Active and Ended filters narrow the list.

On a running session, click the row or the button in the Action column:

  • Open for a ready session;
  • Resume for a paused session, which starts up again first;
  • View progress for a session still being prepared.

You can also get back in from the scenario’s page in the catalog: the launch button turns into Resume when you already have a session for that scenario.

Pausing stops the environment while keeping your work. Paused time does not draw credits, and a paused session does not count towards your limit of concurrent sessions.

  1. In the lab, click Leave lab in the top bar.

  2. In the Leave this lab? window, click Pause & resume later.

From My Sessions, open the Session actions menu (the three dots) of a ready session and click Pause.

To pick it back up, click Resume in My Sessions or on the scenario’s page. You find your environment exactly as you left it.

The lab’s Back to dashboard icon takes you to the dashboard and leaves the session running. It is handy for a short break, but the environment keeps drawing credits.

Ending a session destroys its environment for good. Checks you already passed and challenge results you already submitted are kept.

  1. In the lab, click Leave lab, then End session.

    Or, from My Sessions, open the Session actions menu, click Delete, then confirm with Delete session.

  2. The session shows Removing… while the environment is destroyed, then moves to the Ended sessions.

Each scenario sets a maximum lifetime for its sessions. Paused time is not counted. When that lifetime runs out, the session ends on its own and the lab shows This environment has ended: the environment no longer accepts commands, but any checks you had already passed were recorded.

A session can also be paused automatically when your credits run out. See Credits and automatic pauses.
